Election? [05 Nov 2008|09:47am]

Well thank god that election is done and over with. More importantly, thank god it is over with any partisan court hearings and crap about recounts... just an actual, simple, and fair (I hope) election. I still think the whole electoral college thing is outdated, but not really sure how to fix it anyway so I shouldn't complain. Popular vote isn't a good way to do it either so I guess we should just stick with what we've got.

This will certainly be an interesting next four years. Some of Obama's views and plans are a bit over the top (socialism much?) but I guess we'll have to see how many of things actually come to light. Now the fake promises can stop and the real work can be done. Everyone says he was the change we needed, and I agree for the most part. But an entirely 'democratic' government... with all of Congress predominantly democrat (and I think almost filibuster proof?) it's not a good thing. I always believed in balance of power, so whenever an entire party dominates two parts of the government, it's not a good thing. It's GOOD to have differing views and such so no one party can go and run off with just their ideas.

Enough quasi-depressing talk. It's great and unprecedented to see Obama take office. Frankly I think it's awesome and I hope the man lives up to the hype and movie-star persona that has developed around him. With that, I leave you with this spectacular image: )
